Penn State Law School here we COME!!!

Ok so here are the details about LAW SCHOOL.....The week we went up to Carlisle PA to visit 1 out of 2 locations of the Penn State Dickinson School of Law. The other location is in State College PA where the campus of Penn State is. So here is another tale of the Steele Family adventures....and why instead of Carlisle PA; we will be attending University Park in State College PA......

Penn State's brand new LAW building in University Park, State College PA
So here is Carlisle PA....a city unlike we have ever been before. Dave and I have both always grown up in a large city....this was a shocker for us.....are you ready....20,000 people and only Walmart and Kmart to shop at...oh and the only real restaurant was Applebee's....thats right folks....one dependable restaurant. So we sent 24 hours in the cute city of Carlisle and tried to picture ourselves living here....and we were having the hardest time deciding if we like it or if we could live here for 3 years. (Its a really cute city...we really liked it.....but we also didn't like it at the same time.) So the Story goes on.....keep reading.....

So this picture is Dave in front of the new LAW building that will be finished in January of 2010. This picture was taken in the morning of our 24 hours in Carlisle. So after we walk around a bit checking out the soon to be LAW School building....we walked along the city streets...and all that there was to see were the ROW HOMES pictured above. Its a really cute and quint town.
So once we were done doing our exploring we went to the temporary location for the school and talked with people about financial aid, careers after law school, and took a tour of the school. So now it was about lunch time so we got a bite to eat at a weird Asian place....and then we decided to go see what kind of housing options there were in Carlisle. I swear we looked at every place in town and it felt like we were at it for hours (2 hours only.) We were getting a bit overwhelmed because neither of us got that divine feeling that "THIS IS THE PLACE WE ARE TO GO TO LAW SCHOOL"....so we went back to the hotel and watched TV for a while...trying to figure out what to do.
So the next day we still don't know if Carlisle is the place for us so before we start the 8 hour drive back to NC we drove by the Law school one more time.....and no DIVINE FEELING came.
We were really stressed and pressured about this decision because we had a admission deadline to met...we had to decide and put a $500 deposit down by April 1st and it was March 30th.
So the drive home we talked about Carlisle for 8 hours...we picked up Benjamin from Grandma's and talked about Carlisle again for another 6 hours to Florida. By the end of the car ride we decided that it was not the place for us and we were not going to send in the money.
But to make a really long story short....when we got home Dave he thought to call a few LDS member guys that were attending the University Park location.....He was asking them what they thought about Carlisle and what was funny is that this one guy and his wife thought the exact same thing about Carlisle that we did. He told us that State College has lots of members and families and that they love going to school there. So after his conversation was over we felt GREAT about University Park location in State College PA.
So as of right now we are going to attend Penn State Dickinson School of Law this fall. Penn State is a great university and we are excited about attending school where the main campus is; crazy football games, students everywhere, and lots of cold weather. We have turned into wimps here in Florida and will certainly need a new wardrobe! We are on 3 wait lists for other schools and if we get into one of those then possibly bye bye Penn State.
So we shall see....I definitely think that life is never boring and we have some fun adventures to come!!!

That city sounded better than Rexburg!!! After this crap hole I could live just about anywhere if I had to. Glad you guys made a decision! So exciting!

So sad. I'm sorry you didn't like it. But it does look really nice :) I hope you like the other location better!

Well, I hope whatever you guys decide will work for you. It's always hard to make those big decisions! But it always works out. It never ceases to amaze me.
